What Is Anger ? Anger is a response to what life sometimes brings us, most often an interaction with another human being. Angry feelings start with an experience of pain. This hurt can be physical or emotional: It can be a stomach ache or fatigue, feelings of rejection or loss. The pain causes a biological arousal, a strong desire for release. The particular forms of the release or response can be either creative, or destructive. Everyone has reasons to be angry from time to time; there are many injustices in the world and in our lives. The feeling of anger is a signal, a red flag telling us that we perceive something either 'not right' or 'not fair.' Destructive response to anger however is a problem in the world, in families, in the workplace, and in relationships. We can learn to manage our response to angry feelings in an effective and healthy way.
